Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between therapy and coaching?

Traditional therapy works to treat dysfunction, trauma, and relationship conflicts that happened in the past, with a focus on resolving these issues to better our mental well-being. In contrast, life coaching works to enhance problem solving skills, time management skills, communication skills, goal setting, maximixing performance, a decrease in stress and lasting results.

When do I need a Life Coach?

Many people contact Life Coaches to get help managing certain aspects of their life. Whether it's health and wellness, stress management, financial, career, time management or relationship issues, a Life Coach can help by using conversation and encouragement. Our society today is so demanding that it’s not surprising that we can be overwhelmed by the pace and pressure of modern life.

Being open about personal situations becomes much easier when you have someone to confide in who isn't directly involved. Just as a singer-songwriter collaborates with a vocal coach or mentor to refine their musical skills and artistic expression, individuals seeking personal growth can collaborate with a life coach to navigate life's challenges and unlock their full potential. Life coaches serve as mentors, providing guidance, feedback, and encouragement to help individuals find their voice and thrive in both their personal and professional lives.

What are the benefits of coaching?

Clients come to us for a variety of reasons. Some people do not feel quite right about their lives, relationships, health, fitness, how they're doing at work, or where they're headed in their careers. Others have particular things bothering them that they could use help with – like dealing with a rough patch in a relationship, struggling at work, or trying to get a grip on managing their time.

Life coaches help you figure out where you're at, collaboratively work on a plan with you and cheer you on as you reach your goals. Here's (some) of what our clients have found from working with us:

  • Enhancing relationship and communications skills
  • Improving organizational skills and time management
  • Building confidence
  • Managing stress
  • Enhancing wellness, health and fitness

Many clients uncover valuable insights into their circumstances and behaviors within just a few initial sessions. Through open dialogue with your coach talking through your situation, challenges, and goals, you can identify your true desires and the obstacles standing in your way. Subsequent sessions will build on this knowledge to create a realistic action plan to reach your objectives. We'll support, motivate, and cheer you on as you build the confidence and skills needed to achieve your personal goals.

What can I expect in a typical coaching session?

In a typical coaching session, you can expect a focused and confidential one-on-one conversation between you and your coach. The main goal of the session is to help you gain clarity, set goals, and develop strategies to achieve those goals.

Why does coaching require at least 1 month of commitment?

Enacting change in your life requires consistent practice and action. Coaching is designed to  provide accountability and explore your behavioral patterns to ensure an effective outcome.

In order to do that effectively, your coach needs to understand the environment in which you are looking to bloom as well as the obstacles you are up against. One month is the minimum amount of time it would realistically take to develop a strong coach-client relationship, understand your goals, and help you create a game plan for achieving them week-to-week.
